A doula’s role is to support the mother emotionally and physically throughout pregnancy and the unfolding of labor. Midwives are medical providers who primarily tend to the clinical aspects of birth, while doulas remain focused on your comfort and emotional well-being. Doulas are often described as a steady, experienced presence by your side—someone who knows the terrain and walks the path with you.
-
As early in your pregnancy as you wish! Doulas can provide clients with so much prenatal support through resources, nutrition, prenatal lifestyle adjustments, referrals and more. Some clients begin working with a doula as soon as they find out they’re pregnant, and others can start as late as 34 weeks.
-
Clinical evidence shows continuous support from a birth doula makes labor a smoother, more positive experience. Studies found women who hire doulas progress more comfortably during labor, have increased vaginal birth outcomes, reduced use of medical interventions, and more successful breastfeeding initiation.

Prenatal visits are a time for us to connect, build trust, and prepare for your birth together. These visits focus on emotional support, thoughtful preparation, and gentle guidance as you move through pregnancy.
We may explore your hopes, concerns, and intentions for birth, discuss brief education on the stages of labor, discuss general prenatal nutrition, and practice comfort measures such as breathing, movement, and relaxation. We’ll also talk through partner support, birth preferences, and ways to feel grounded and confident as you approach labor. Space is always held for questions, reflection, and support as things unfold.
Prenatal visits are non-medical and are meant to complement, not replace, care from your healthcare provider. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support, reassurance, and evidence-based resources as you prepare for birth.
-
The number of prenatal visits varies depending on when you choose to hire me and your individual needs. Most clients receive up to three prenatal visits, with a minimum of one prenatal visit for every client, along with one postpartum visit. This allows us to connect, thoughtfully prepare, and ensure you feel supported both before and after birth.
